Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology, and Hearing Aid Dispensing Practices: Exam and Education Schedule

The Hearing Aid Dispensing practical exam schedule. You must register a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to the examination you wish to take. The dates in 2023 are as follows:

The board office will notify you of your practical exam time once your registration is confirmed.

Notice: Time and date of the Practical are subject to change. You will be notified by the Board office of any and all changes also you need to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time.

You must bring the following items to your scheduled Practical Exam:

• Photo ID
• An individual that may be used as a subject that you will perform various tasks on. The individual must not be nor have been a New Mexico licensed HAD, HAD trainee or your immediate supervisor.
• BTE ear mold and tubing with materials to cut and fit
• Audiometer
• Impression material
• Audiogram
• Speakers
• Otoscope
• Otoblock
• Cleaning/Sanitizing material
• Please come fully prepared to fit Hearing Aids as you would on a normal basis

  All details will be on the registration form. If you need special accommodations to take the examinations, please contact the Board office. You must request any special accommodations at the time you register on a form provided by the Board. The Board must approve the request in advance.

Written Exam

The written exam is now taken with IHS. Once you have passed the Practical Exam the Board office will sign you up with IHS. You will receive an email from IHS with instructions.
