The New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department has implemented an online licensing system for the Respiratory Care Practioners Board applications and license renewals. This investment will simplify the licensing process, making it easier for applicants and licensees to apply for and renew licenses in New Mexico.

Renewals: All licensed respiratory care practitioners MUST renew their license by September 30th of each odd year. Access to the online license renewal process in NM PLUS will become available about 45 days prior to that date. You may register and/or gain access to your NM PLUS account by clicking the NM-PLUS icon above.

Jurisprudence Exam
JURISPRUDENCE EXAM
The Jurisprudence Exam is a self-administered, open-book exam. Passing the exam is a requirement of licensure. The purpose of this exam is to test the applicant’s familiarity with the laws and rules that govern the practice of Respiratory Care in New Mexico. Prior to completing the paper (PDF) exam, which will be sent via email, applicants are responsible for reading the entire “Respiratory Care Act” (61-12B-1 thru 61-12A-25 NMSA) and the rules “Respiratory Care Practitioners” (Chapter 23, Title 16, of the NM Administrative Code).
Pursuant to Subsection C.6 of 16.23.3.9 NMAC- INITIAL LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Jurisprudence examination with a passing score of seventy-five percent (75%) or higher is required. Each applicant will be afforded three opportunities to pass the exam. If the applicant has not achieved a passing score after three attempts, the applicant must wait three months before attempting to retake the exam.
