Safe Storage to Reduce Legal and Health-Related Risks

You have to be 21 to buy, use, or possess adult-use cannabis in New Mexico. Note: Cannabis is legal for those under 21 enrolled in the New Mexico Medical Cannabis Program.

If you keep cannabis and cannabis products at your home, it’s important to store it away from children and pets. Just like any prescription medication or household chemicals, cannabis and edibles must be kept secure and out of reach of those who might be harmed by exposure.

If a child accidentally eats cannabis in any form, immediately contact a medical professional or call the poison control hotline at 1-800-222-1222. If the reaction seems more severe, call 911 or go to an emergency room right away.

Contact your vet immediately if your pet has ingested a cannabis-containing product.
