New Mexico State Chartered Banks and Savings and Loan Associations

The Financial Institutions Division supervises New Mexico state-chartered, federally insured banks and savings and loan associations.  The function of supervision, management, and liaison is under the direction of the Bank and Trust Industry Manager and the examination function is under the direction of the Chief Examiner.

NOTE:  We do not supervise federally chartered banks, federally chartered savings and loan associations, or banks/savings and loans chartered by another state.  

Generally, the word “national” or the abbreviation “N.A.” or “F.S.B.” appears in the name of the financial institution.  Examples include Bank of America, N.A.; Citibank, N.A.; JP Morgan Chase Bank, N.A.; U.S. Bank, N.A., and Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.  For information regarding those entities, please contact the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and/or the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.  For information regarding bank holding companies, please contact the Federal Reserve Bank.
