The Cannabis Regulation Act was passed by the state Legislature during a special session in 2021 and signed into law by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grishman.

Over the past year, the Cannabis Control Division has been promulgating rules to establish a regulatory framework for adult-use cannabis in New Mexico. That process continues as the industry evolves and the state works to protect the safety and well-being of New Mexicans.

Below you will find information regarding laws currently in effect, as well as updates on any upcoming rulemaking, public hearings and public comment periods.
